Project Overview

7 – 11 November 2022

Pilsen

From 7 to 11 November 2022, the city of Pilsen hosted the European Parliament of Young Diplomats, which marked the conclusion of our series of projects simulating and bringing closer the European legislative process to Czech students. This is the largest project that the Young Diplomats Association organises on a recurring basis.

At the beginning of the project, participants got to know each other and were given a more detailed introduction to the European Union, its historical development, its institutions, and the basics of the legislative process. They were then introduced to the Rules of Procedure of the simulated European Parliament session, and the debates – the core part of the project – began. Over the course of the five-day programme, participants took on the roles of Members of the European Parliament and discussed documents originating from the preceding projects: The European Council of Young Diplomatsand The European Commission of Young Diplomats.

The project programme was divided into several diverse segments. In addition to debates, participants attended engaging lectures by several guests and discussed current issues and challenges facing the European Union, as well as the situation in Ukraine. To lighten the atmosphere, there were numerous interactive activities and sessions focused on developing soft skills.

All participants were provided free of charge with comfortable hotel accommodation, transport, meals, and refreshments.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Erasmus+ programme and to all our honoured guests for their generous support of the project.
