Prague

Selected students from all over the Czech Republic had a unique chance with our association to privately meet with the director of the Foreign Department of The Office of the President of the Czech Republic right in the beautiful and not commonly publicly available spaces of the Prague Castle.

A common discussion was led on various topics of international politics, including Mr Director’s goals in his office as the new ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic in the United States of America. We also heard a lot of interesting information about the history of the Czech royal and presidential residence – Prague Castle. However, what we found the most interesting, were the behind the scenes „gems“ from various protocolar acts of The Office of the President of the Czech Republic, which the Director was able to very colorfully depict. For instance we learned that a delegation from the Middle East found one of the original pieces of the commonly used Persian carpet astonishing meanwhile its mere replica is located just in the home country of the delegation and it is considered one of the greatest cultural heritage items or that president Václav Havel’s security did not want to let in an ambassador of an African country for a Ceremony of the Presentation of Credentials because he was dressed in a national costume which included even a long wooden spear.
